Graphic Design Group

Our graphic design group is working with Mrs. Tracy Nunnaley on creating a new logo for the River Keepers. We will also be designing a brochure and merchandise for the the Catawba River Keepers Foundation to use and produce.

Actors Group

In our acting group Mrs. Tripp gave us a her script to read through. We originally were going to use her script but then we started coming up with ideas of our own! Our script is about a group students that go on a trip to the Catawba River. It's only a draft now but we will continue to improve it. When the students are at the Catawba River they are all in canoes and kayaks looking around and observing things. At the end all the students end up falling in except one of the students (Davis) and they get poisoned with PCB's. They start hallucinating and imagining a fish (Michael) talking them. The fish starts explaining the dangers of not keeping our river clean and spits out facts as the story goes. When all the students end up getting infected, Davis goes to find help by searching for the Catawba River Indian descendants. He comes back with a special potion and everyone gets better. Once everyone is healed, he explains how dangerous the PCB's are and how they can effect not only your health but the environment around us' health. If you have any suggestions feel free to share!

Lake Keepers movie making

In lake keepers movie making this week we brainstormed ideas of how to capture the watchers attention while watching the video we are going to make. We discussed the differences in a documentary and a movie and what type of movie we wanted to make. We researched information on the river basin and made a story board to help guide our researched and movie making. We walked to the lake behind the high school to visit where we would go and video. We discussed the lines we wanted people to say in the movie to deliver the information. We thought about different ways to video to make the video visually appealing like panning or traveling with the camera to show the surroundings and voice over’s. Next week we hope to accomplish getting videos and photos of the lake that we could add to our movie and we also wanted to research the statistics, history, and information about the river basin and how it affects Lake Norman. Cannot wait for all of you guys to see it!!!
